Fajar Bambang Hirawan


Fajar B. Hirawan received his BA in Economics in 2006 after completing his study at Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia (FEUI). During his undergraduate program at FEUI, especially in 2005-2006, he was elected as the President of Indonesian Development and Economic Studies or in Indonesian it is popularly known as Kajian Ekonomi dan Pembangunan Indonesia (KANOPI). In 2008, he continued his Master degree in Development Studies at Faculty of Economics, University of Rome "La Sapienza" with the scholarship from Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and SPES Development Studies Research Centre. He completed his study in 2009 with thesis titled 'The Pattern of Employment and Growth in the Process of Structural Change: Examining the Role of Farm Sector in Indonesia 1993-2007.

He joined CSIS in November 2006. Prior to joining CSIS, Fajar worked as a research assistant in several projects under Research Laboratory, Department of Economics, FEUI. He is currently on study-leave as an Australia Awards PhD scholar in economics with the School of Economics, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney, Australia. His research mainly focuses on how to improve food security in Indonesia.
