The Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Indonesia and the Pacific Forum wish to invite you to attend the Virtual Forum Series: Adapting to COVID-19: Indonesia, the United States, and the Indo-Pacific. The topic of discussion of the session is "Election in the Time of COVID-19".
In December 2020, Indonesia held a nationwide series of elections for leaders of various local jurisdictions. Involving more than 100 million voters and tens of millions of organizers throughout the country, these were some of the world's largest elections to be held under strict pandemic lockdowns. While concerns mounted regarding overall safety, rigorous implementation of health protocols, adjustments at various stages to accommodate all relevant stakeholders, and strong monitoring by civil society and official watchers delivered a smooth transition of power. This webinar aims at discussing lessons learned and best practices from these massive elections held in times of the COVID-19, as well as discussing the implications for general health protocols and countermeasures for possible future health crises.
