The objectives of the research are to:

Identify factors responsible for illicit small arms transfer in Southeast Asia; Examine security implications of illegal small arms transfers at the regional, domestic, and individual levels; and Address measures and constraints to deal with illicit small arms transfer in the region.

The second part of the research deals with specific cases of illicit small arms transfers in three Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
