Julia Tijaja

Julia Puspadewi Tijaja is a Non-Resident Fellow at CSIS Indonesia. She is also an associate senior fellow at the ASEAN Studies Centre and Regional Economic Studies Programme at the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore. Julia was formerly Director of ASEAN Integration Monitoring at the ASEAN Secretariat (2015-2021) where she worked on the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Blueprint 2025 development and mid-term review, RCEP negotiations, and the ASEAN COVID-19 exit strategy (the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework). Julia currently works for a major economic development partnership programme in Indonesia focusing on strengthening economic governance, advancing policy reform, and promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Julia’s research focuses on geoeconomics, economic security and resilience, and ASEAN political economy. She has published extensively on the ASEAN Economic Community and ASEAN institutions.

Julia holds a D.Phil. in Development Economics from the Open University, United Kingdom (UK), an M.Sc. in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford, UK, and a B.Sc. in Economics with Politics from Queen Mary, University of London, UK.
