Puspa D. Amri is an associate professor of economics at Sonoma State University. She is also a research associate at the Claremont Institute for Economic Policy Studies and a non-resident fellow at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies Indonesia. Puspa has a Ph.D. in Economics and Political Science from Claremont Graduate University and an MA in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University. She previously taught economics at various institutions, including Ithaca College, California State University Long Beach, and her undergraduate alma mater, the University of Indonesia.
Puspa’s research focuses on the political economy factors that explain macroeconomic outcomes, including financial crises, income inequality, economic voting, globalization, welfare spending, as well as Indonesia’s fiscal decentralization and political economy. Her work has appeared in academic journals such as Economics & Politics, European Law Journal, Open Economies Review, Journal of Financial Economic Policy, Journal of Southeast Asian Economics, and International Interactions. She has also published several chapters in edited volumes on the topic of Indonesian Democracy. Puspa has received research grants from the Climate and Land Use Alliance as well as the Australian National University.
