This study was conducted in collaboration with Overseas Development Institute (ODI), UK.  This was a ‘baseline’ study on how national level policymakers acquire research evidence. The locus of the study was policy makers at the ministerial level in Jakarta. The objective of the study was to promote improvement in the quality of policy and related outcomes in Indonesia through the use of evidence. The education sector., i.e Ministry of Education was one focus of the study. Assessment on policy making processes in the education sector was based on interviews with several high ranking officials in Jakarta. The study was also aimed to identify efforts to improve government capacity to acquired good quality research evidence. The study was commissioned by the Knowledge Sector Initiative.
