Data for Good at Meta has provided policymakers with precise and real-time data, allowing them to have a better understanding of the situation on the ground. Local governments have further benefited from Data for Good in the establishment of public policies and knowledge literacy over the last two years, particularly during the early stages of COVID-19 when valid data was scarce. This study provides an overview of Data for Good's extended cooperation with Meta, which has aided academics in improving and testing ideas through the lens of tech-based data, as well as serving as a source of encouragement for future research agendas and collaborations. Beyond the pandemic, the report suggests that expanding the use of tech-based data for research and policymaking may be highly beneficial to mitigate disaster risks, especially in disaster-prone countries such as Indonesia.
