Fitriani joins the Department of Politics and International Relations, CSIS in 2017. Broadly, her research focus includes peacekeeping, defence and security in Asia Pacific, women in peace and security, non-traditional security, cyber security, as well as Indonesia politics and foreign policy.
Prior to joining CSIS Indonesia, she held research and visiting positions at the Philosophy and Political Science Faculty, TU Dortmund University in Germany; the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; and Centre for Asian Studies, Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines.
Her research portfolio includes studies on Action for Peacekeeping (A4P), UN Security Council, Indonesia security sector reform, regional conflict management, ASEAN cyber security, women in radical and extremist groups, as well as Women, Peace and Security agenda. Fitriani is also an adjunct lecturer at the Department of International Relations, Universitas Indonesia. In 2022, she is a UN Women consultant for the study on Women, Peace and Cybersecurity.
Fitriani holds a PhD in defence and security management from Cranfield University, UK, a Master's of Defence Studies from Institut Teknologi Bandung, and a Bachelor's in Social and Political Science, majoring in International Relations from Universitas Indonesia. She received additional executive education at the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies in Honolulu, Hawaii.
