The Resident Fellowship (or Visiting Fellowship) program is primarily designed to support students who are in the process of completing their PhD theses, though it is not limited to this group. Opportunities for post-doctoral researchers or non-degree fellows are also available.
The Non-Resident Fellowship is an exclusive program tailored for distinguished individuals seeking to engage with our Centre on a flexible, non-residential basis. Fellows contribute their expertise to ongoing research, offering valuable insights and collaborating remotely with our team. This fellowship is available by invitation only.

Visiting fellows are required to fulfill the following responsibilities:
We accept visiting fellowship requests year-round. To apply, send your Curriculum Vitae, a recent photograph, research proposal, and letter expressing interest to: fellow-intern@csis.or.id. The subject of the email must be CSIS Fellowship-Period-Complete Name.
Please submit your application well in advance, as the approval process may take up to one month. Before submitting, ensure that you are familiar with the Indonesian visa requirements by visiting the official eVisa portal and that you have secured the necessary funding for doing fellowship at CSIS.
The fellowship request will be assessed based on the following indicators:
The internship program at CSIS aims to provide students with an opportunity to work and conduct research on issues pertinent to Indonesia. Internship opportunities are only available for those holding at least an undergraduate degree in majors relevant to CSIS' research topics. Internship positions are available for Fall, Spring, and Summer Terms. Internship duration may vary between 10 to 16 weeks.

What we offer:
Please note that the internship program is a volunteer, non-payment-based position. Selected candidates will be notified regarding the scope of work, job description as well as other relevant tasks by the head of the respective Department. Only selected candidates will be directly contacted by the manager. If you do not receive any updates, your application has not been successful.
Qualifications
1. Indonesian citizenship.
2. Master’s degree or PhD in Political Science or Constitutional Law.
3. Minimum two (2) years of research experience in a research institute or university research setting.
4. Proficiency in English and Indonesian for written and verbal communication.
5. Highly committed to working in the research sector as a full-time researcher.
Preferred Skills
1. Strong understanding of Indonesia’s domestic politics, including political parties, elections, and local governance.
2. Interest in Indonesia’s social and political structure, decentralisation, politics and technology, legislative research, political and budgetary finance, political corruption, or gender and politics.
3. Familiarity with qualitative or quantitative methods in social sciences.
Requirements
Interested candidates should submit the following documents in electronic format (MS Word or PDF):
1. An application letter includes a brief statement on the applicant’s area of research expertise (or interest) and a personal motivation statement for working at CSIS.
2. Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a recent passport-size coloured photograph.
3. Legalised copies of academic transcript and degree certificate.
4. One (1) sample of academic writing (10-20 pages), including one article in English and one article in Indonesian.
5. Two (2) references or recommendation letters from previous workplace or academic supervisors.
6. A medical certificate of fitness.
