The Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Indonesia, a leading policy research institute based in Jakarta, is seeking a full-time political science researcher to join its Department of Politics and Social Change.
Position Summary
The political science researcher will conduct high-quality research on Indonesian politics, elections, political parties, and policy issues. This role requires strong analytical and academic writing skills to produce research reports, policy briefs, articles, papers, and other written products. The researcher will also support the planning and execution of conferences, workshops, and events.
Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree or PhD in Political Science, Public Policy, or related field
2-5 years of professional research experience in Indonesian domestic and/or comparative politics
Expert knowledge of Indonesian political system, elections, parties, and key policy issues
Quantitative and/or qualitative research methods skills, ability to collect and analyze complex data sets
Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and attention to detail
Excellent verbal communication, academic writing, and editing skills in English and Indonesian
Strong presentation, facilitation, and verbal communications skills
Collaborative team player who can also work independently, familiar with project management and personnel supervision
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and conduct research projects on assigned topics
Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data
Produce high-quality research reports, policy briefs, articles, papers, and other written products
Present research findings to stakeholders through reports, meetings, conferences
Support planning, promotion, and execution of conferences and events
Liaise with donors, partners, officials, and other key stakeholders
Contribute to departmental strategy and new project development
