The Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Indonesia, a leading policy research institute based in Jakarta, is seeking a full-time economic researcher to join its Department of Economics.
Position Summary
The researcher will conduct high-quality research on Indonesian economy and policy issues, with research focus on economic policy modelling, with some emphasis on climate-related modelling. This role requires strong quantitative analytical and academic writing skills to conduct policy modelling exercises, and to produce research reports, policy briefs, articles, papers, and other written products. The researcher will also support the planning and execution of conferences, workshops, and events.
Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree or PhD in economics, applied economics, public policy or related fields
2-5 years of professional research experience in Indonesian economy and policy analysis
Strong quantitative analysis background, particularly in conducting economic policy modelling exercises, e.g. computable general equilibrium, as well as statistical modelling
Strong interest on climate policy, energy transition and intersections with sustainable economic development
Excellent verbal communication, academic writing, and editing skills in English and Indonesian
Collaborative team player who can also work independently, familiar with project management and personnel supervision
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain modelling exercises for policy analysis on various economic issues and linkages to climate-related problems
Working together with some well-known experts on economic policy modelling
Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data for modelling exercises
Produce high-quality research reports, policy briefs, articles, papers, and other written products
Present research findings to stakeholders through reports, meetings, conferences
Support planning, promotion, and execution of conferences and events
Liaise with donors, partners, officials, and other key stakeholders
Contribute to departmental strategy and new project development
