Deni Friawan

Deni Friawan is a researcher at Department of Economics, Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Prior to joining CSIS in 2007, he worked as a researcher at Demographic Institute, University of Indonesia and a lecturer at Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia. Aside his works at the Centre, He was also a part-time lecturer at the Prasetya Mulya Business School, Jakarta. He is currently on leave for continuing his study at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University

He received Bachelor in Economics from the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia in 2003 and earned Master in International Trade and Economic Cooperation from Kyung Hee University, South Korea. In addition, he has also received several awards for fellowship program: “the Australian Leadership Awards: Fellowships 2006/2007 program on APEC Second Track Leadership Development Program” held by The Australian Institute of International Affairs and AUSaid, and “Nikkei Asia Scholarship: Fellowship 2010” held by Nikkei (Nihon Keizai Shimbun) Inc, and Japan Center for Economic Research (JCER).

He has experiences in undertaking various studies on wide-ranging economics and development issues, including: education, health, labor, gender, decentralization, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), trade and investment liberalization, as well as regional economic integration issues.
